#Not Exactly A Bud Light...Tourist Drops $1250 U.S. For Pint Of Italian Suds
According to Reuters News Service
, a Hong Kong-born tourist who is a resident of Germany was charged 990 euros for a beer at a bar in Rome recently.
That comes to over $1200 in U.S. currency.
The guy complained and they cut the price in half, but charged his credit card the full amount anyway. The unidentified man was quoted as saying: "When the bill arrived I thought it was safer to pay it. I was scared something could happen to me if I didn't."
The tourist, who doesn’t speak Italian, attempted to report the problem to local police in English but was unable to find someone who understood him.
"The English, she’s a not so good," said one police official when questioned.
